Marching to
the Naval Yard |
Heres another composite picture to try and capture the huge number of people. This is the start of the march as we leave the grounds and start moving in the direction of the Naval Yard. I was told the route was four miles long.
People seemed peaceful, and I didn't see any arguments at all.
Along the route, there were small handfuls of people off to the side with signs in favor of the U.S. battle plans. One sign said Hippies Go Home. (This was from a second-story balcony, next to a Republican elephant-logo flag. There were about six people there.) Later, there were perhaps a dozen or so with some signs saying we were all traitors.
I mention this because the march was so peaceful and without conflict. I thought it was interesting that this morning the CNN web site had a photo of two men shouting at each other. No doubt that happened, but to choose that as a representative image is comical. It just wasnt that way anyplace I went, and I went everyplace I could manage in the time we were there.
